Me: *in my best scary voice* "Fee, Fi, Foe, Fum. I smell the blood of an Englishman! Be he alive or be he dead, I'll grind his bones to make my bread!"
Kid: That'll be some hard bread!
Me: You know... you're right. I bet it would break your teeth.
I *love* teaching fairy tales. I also love going a step farther and teach fractured fairy tales. I love it so much that I set up the lessons years in advance. I teach my kinders easier more familiar fairy tales (Little Red Riding Hood/ Cinderella.) I teach my firsts some different but still more familiar fairy tales (Jack and the Beanstalk/ Snow White.) Then I introduce fractured fairy tales starting with my seconds. We review the originals (they are familiar with them by now) and then read the fractured versions. A new series I came across is The Other Side of the Story published by Capstone. They are fantastic and the kids love them too.

Actually, Capstone has a great web browser called FactHound. I really like it for resources for littles. http://www.facthound.com/
