Kid: What like $20?
Me: Probably more.
Several kids: Wow! That’s a lot!
I don’t actually teach to the students about money and needs vs wants, but I have been thinking about it lately. It’s something I think my students (urban and low income) should probably be taught more. I’m having difficulties with my students tearing up, writing in, and not returning books. When I talk to them about the consequences of damaging books, they shrug it off. They can just pay for a new one. So I have decided to go deeper into teaching Book Care next school year. Here are some of the resources I have found about Book Care:

Do you have any suggestions for teaching Book Care (or taking care of school supplies in general)?
